Our Purpose
The Acupuncture Cam Therapy Institute is a
non-profit organization that teaches the principles and
practices of Ayurveda, Acupuncture, Acupressure, Vedic
Astrology, Yoga and Complementary Alternative Medicines. We
provide authentic education in a supportive environment that
encourages the integration of Ayurveda and other ancient medical
sciences of life by individuals into their daily living and by
health care professionals into their clinical practices.

Lord Dhanvantari
(The Original Teacher of Ayurveda)
Lord Dhanvantari is the Divine Healer. The evolution of
Lord Dhanvantari is a very rare occurance. Lord Dhanvantari
resurfaces only from the great churning of the ocean, “Sagar
Manthan”. This great oceanic activity reunited the disappeared
Goddess Lakshmi with Lord Vishnu. It is Lord Dhanvantari who
appeared with the Amrit (nectar of eternal life), which was
later distributed by Lord Vishnu to all demi-gods making them
immortal and thus enable the demi-gods to free the heaven from
the devils who had captured it.
In the real sense, this great ocean is within and not
outside as well as outside and not within. And so is this great
churning all within and not outside and also all outside and not
within. It is only through the actual realized experience of
this great oceanic churning that emergence of Lord Dhanvantari
occurs, and not otherwise. And with this emergence comes forth
the Amrit or the essential nectar of life that has been the most
sought by each and every being.

Anton Jayasuriya (1930-2005 - Sri Lanka)
Lord Prof. Dr. Sir Anton Jayasuriya
had worked diligently as a Senior Consultant in Rheumatology and
Rehabilitian in the Department of Health, Sri Lanka. He was also
a Senior Acupuncturist in Sri Lanka. He is best known world-wide
as the Chairman of Medicia Alternativa, and as the renowned
author on such subjects as: Neurophysiology, Acupuncture,
Moxibustion and Acupuncture Anesthesia.
Prof. Anton Jayasuriya popularly known as Anton or Kara
by his friends, whose voice was silenced by the sting of death
that spread a dark veil over him most unexpectedly on 6th
April, at a time when the world that was heading towards
integrated medicines needed him the most. This man who was a
legend in his time had treated around 3.5 million patients free
of charge (probably deserving an entry in the Guinness book of
records), and even provided the very needles at his own expense
when the need arose. He used to regularly say that there is
ALLOPATHY AND HOMEOPATHY BUT WHAT IS MOST IMPORTANT IS SYMPATHY.
The wall hanging on his clinic says “IF YOU CANNOT BE A KING BE
A HEALER” taken from an ancient Sinhala Ola manuscript of ca 500
B.C., and one of Anton’s own sayings” There is only one
important person in the clinic – the patient”, and he maintained
that “ To know about the patient is more important than to know
about the disease”. His knowledge was enlivened by his own brand of “
Antonian humour” which resulted in a small publication titled”
Laughter is the best Alternative Medicine”.
Thus the curtain falls on a great healer who performed caesarian
operations using only acupuncture anesthesia while the patient
was fully conscious, way back in 1978 at Kalubowila, reminding
us of the famous saying – “The world is a plain paper white,
whereupon you and I may write …..One word or two…..and then
comes night”.
